It is not only the great unwashed and unknown poets who stoop to create Extreme Bad Poetry. Even those who can write great poetry occasionally stumble and bequeath upon an unsuspecting world a real stinker. A case in point is our first example, by the creator of Yesterday, Ob Bla Di, and the elegant Eleanor Rigby - Sir Paul McCartney.

It was the darkest days of Watergate. Richard Nixon, holed up in the White House, uttered these poetic words into the infamous White House Tapes. Makes one wonder what Extreme Bad Poetry was lost forever during Rosemary Woods' 18 1/2 minute shuffle.
HOPE FOR THE BEST
You really can't sit and worry about it
All the time.
The worst may happen
But it may not.
So you try to button it up
As well as you can.
And hope for the best.
